What is a sleep score? 

The sleep score given to you by Track8 is a comprehensive measure of your sleep quality, determined by analyzing various factors recorded during the night. These factors include:

  1. Snoring: The duration and intensity of snoring episodes are monitored and categorized into levels such as no snoring, low, moderate, or high intensity.
  1. Restlessness/Movement: Body movements during sleep are tracked to identify restlessness levels, categorized as low, moderate, or high.
  1. Sleep Stages: The duration of each sleep stage (awake, light sleep, deep sleep, REM) is analyzed and presented graphically to visualize sleep patterns.
  1. Sleep and Wake Up Time: Precise sleep onset and wake up times are recorded to determine the overall sleep duration.
  1. On Bed and Off Bed Time: Total time spent in bed versus actual sleep time is monitored to assess sleep efficiency.
  1. Respiratory Rate: The respiratory rate throughout the night is measured to identify breathing patterns during sleep.

By aggregating data from these six points, your sleep score is calculated, providing valuable insights into the quality of your sleep and helping you make informed decisions to improve your sleep hygiene and overall well-being. 

Understanding Your Sleep Stages

Track8 monitors and provides detailed insights into the following sleep stages in sequence:

  1. Awake

The state of full consciousness and alertness, including the transition periods before falling asleep and after waking up, is characterized by increased movement intensity.

  1. Light Sleep (NREM)

Stage 1: A brief transition between wakefulness and sleep, characterized by slowed muscle activity and slow eye movements.

Stage 2: A deeper light sleep in which body temperature drops and heart rate slows, accounting for about 50% of total sleep time.

  1. Deep Sleep (NREM)

Deepest and most restorative stage of sleep, crucial for physical recovery, tissue repair, and immune system strengthening.

  1. REM Sleep (Rapid Eye Movement)

A high brain activity stage characterized by vivid dreams and rapid eye movements, important for learning and memory processing.
